It is hard to believe that our time here is almost done.  This week the crew really accomplished a lot.  We are still working in #17 the Stumpy Lane house, refinishing the addition of 2 bedrooms, the bathroom and repairing the kitchen.  We have also signed on to one more job at #18 Gene St. where we will be finishing the inside of a home.  Due to these two jobs, the crew was split all week.

In #17, Stumpy Lane, Cecile continued priming and painting walls and ceilings.  Dave and Marian continued with dry wall work and installed ceiling fan lights, and Ev and Mark installed flooring.

In #18 Gene St., Ev, Martha and Les installed flooring; Les, Mark and Pete worked on electrical; Trish and Mark worked on the deck; Trish painted trim and Les painted the vanity.  Martha stained all the cabinets and finished them off with a coat of polyurethane.  She then installed the cabinet doors and Pete installed the cabinets in the kitchen.  Les cut and sanded door casings.  Ev installed the door trim and Pete and Les installed the interior doors. Martha then primed the doors.   Mark, Les and Trish worked on installing the ceiling fan lights.  Pete cut window trim.  It sounds like so much was finished, but there is still so much left and only a few more work days next week to do it.

On Saturday we all enjoyed a very informative and pleasant boat ride on the Rio Grande River, then ate lunch at the restaurant of the same facility.  On Sunday we all went to the First Methodist Church in Port Isabel where our UMCOR contact, Roland, is the pastor.  The church invited us to a lovely continental breakfast afterward.  We then ventured over the bridge to South Padre Island and enjoyed putting our feet in the warm waters of the gulf and walked along the beach.  Of course, this outing was followed by ice cream at Dairy Queen!  What a wonderful respite after a hard week of service and as we get ready for our final push here in Southeast Texas.

Blessings from Loretta, Office Manager for the McAllen RV Project and Peter; Mark and Martha; Ev and Bev; Cecile and Les; Dave and Marian; and Trish
