Three projects were completed this week. The Escha house passed its final inspection. After mucking out the house, doors and windows were installed as well as soffit in the Concepcion home. It also has passed inspection. Minor repairs on a roof were also completed.

Because our short-term volunteers are here for two weeks, the middle weekend is usually spent exploring the island of Guam. Even though Covid and Typhoon Mawyer took their toll on businesses and beaches, there is still more to see than can be seen in a couple days.

Over this weekend our volunteers went snorkeling, visited museums and beaches, and found interesting places to eat.

One new job is lined up for next week. Don Lichti, our program director, is hard at work finding additional jobs. It is often hard to see the obvious need for home repairs and live within the FEMA mandate for assisting on this island.

Our cook, Em Yoder, has been doing a stellar job preparing a hot breakfast out of a small hotel room kitchen. The hotel staff have been enjoying the leftovers since there is not adequate refrigerator and storage space and evening meals are eaten in local restaurants.

A new group will arrive on Sunday. MDS will close our operations at the end of their two-week assignment on November 25.
