West Asheville, NC – Feb. 8- 14, 2026
Warmer temperatures allowed some of the volunteers to work on a roof at the Rogers’ house. They began by tearing off the old shingles, making repairs on the roof as needed, and finally putting on the new shingles. They were able to complete the job on Friday morning. She came home to sign the job card, and she was so thrilled. She was proud to be able to show it to her neighbors. On a rainy morning while they waited for the roof to dry, several of the volunteers finished hanging the blinds in the RSAA building. On Friday, that crew worked at the Gyska house, a new build, with Ken from Divine Ministries. They installed joist hangers, hurricane straps and structure bolts.
At the McAnally house the crew finished hanging the drywall and began taping and mudding. In Beacon Village work was going on at several places. Baseboards were repainted and walls were touched up. Some cleaning was also done in preparation for Sunday’s house dedication celebration. At the Walls’ house drywall was hung and then taped, mudded, and sanded.
On Monday evening two of the RSAA staff members joined us for supper. They talked about the mission of RSAA and how they plan to use the building to minister to the community.
Our weekly volunteers this week joined us from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois. Evening activities included card games, puzzles, and music.
