This week will be the final week for MDS in West Asheville, so we have jobs to finish, job cards to be signed, and packing up to do!  A busy week is ahead!  We have two short term volunteers this week, one from VA and one from Canada.  We are also happy to have Naomi Martin join us from the Lititz office for the week, and we enjoyed having Paul and Julie join us for breakfast on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, we took a crew of four, including the OM and the cook, to the McAnally house.  We were joined by a daily volunteer from the area and were able to complete the interior painting on the house!

Another crew went to the Vinson house to tear apart a bathroom floor that was quite rotten.  By Tuesday, they had completed their work there and the homeowner was very happy with the improvement!

On Wednesday, several volunteers went to the Flynn house to finish up the work on the porch roof that they worked on last week.   Another crew went to a house just a few minutes away from the base to do some repair work to some drywall and also to redo a rotted entry door and threshold.  By Friday, both jobs were completed.

Beth Ann spent several days filling nail holes, painting trim and finishing the touch up painting on the Culler and Walls houses.

At the base, we continued to organize and pack up items for storage.  It’s great to have Naomi here to give us direction!

It’s been a productive month at West Asheville, with a great team of long term volunteers!

Now it’s time for everyone to head home again with good memories, lasting relationships and memorable experiences with homeowners and volunteers.  We want to thank the staff at RSAA for their hospitality and the space to enjoy while we were here.  Blessings to them as they continue their work in this community.

The long term team:  Mike & Linda, Ron & Char, Hank, and Beth Ann
