On Sunday evening eight men from PA joined us to continue the bridge building work here in North Carolina.

Early in the week several men finished the gravel driveway and did the final grade at the Cordova bridge, along with seeding the grass there and at the Briar Hollow site.

This week also found the crews working hard at the Lyda Bridge, and they enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures!  Early in the week, the excavation was done and piles driven, along with finishing the footer form work and the rebar.  By the end of the week, the footers were poured and the forms were set and poured for walls and some riprap was placed.

The crews working at the Blue Rock Bridge began the week starting the deck boards and forming the ends for concrete, and by Tuesday the end walls were poured and the decking finished.  The handrails and ramps were completed and by Friday this bridge was cleaned up and finished.

Friday afternoon was sunny and warm and we were privileged to dedicate the Cordova Bridge at 1:00 and the Blue Rock Bridge at 4:30. These were heartwarming dedications with the grateful homeowners who could not thank us enough for finally providing a bridge to access their homes!  These homeowners have generously provided the crews, and all of us here, with wonderful meals during the building of these bridges.  We are blessed by their friendship and thankfulness!

On Thursday evening the Asheville group joined us again for our evening meal together in the church hall of the Episcopal church.  Steve, the Fire Chief from Bat Cave, spoke to us about Hurricane Helene and the impact on the community following the storm.

From the long term team:  Mike & Linda, Keith and Mark
