North Carolina Bridges – Jun. 15-19, 2026
We had a total of 9 volunteers during this week; 4 Weekly, 4 Leadership volunteers including the 2 cooks, and 1 Long Term, to work on the Reedy Patch Bridge, the Whitmire Bridge, and Woody’s Drive Bridge in Hendersonville. Our volunteers were from IN, PA, SC, and Canada.
Progress was as follows:
Monday: 2 volunteers installed cables and posts on the Reedy Patch Bridge (Gongage) and then moved the equipment and supplies from the Pace Bridge to the Whitmire Bridge site. The Pace Bridge is complete .From there, 3 volunteers laid rip rap and placed steel beams at Whitmire Bridge.
Tuesday, 5 volunteers laid rip rap and started the decking at Whitmire. 1 volunteer built a temporary road at the Woody’s Drive Bridge site.
Wednesday, 2 volunteers finished the temporary road and excavation of site at Woody’s Bridge. 4 volunteers finished deck, poured back walls, and started curbing at the Whitmire Bridge.
Thursday, 5 volunteers dug footers and built cages for Woody’s Drive Bridge.
Friday, 6 volunteers prepared footer boxes, drove piles, installed cages, and started the stem walls at Woody’s Drive Bridge.
