The week began with very cold temperatures here in southeast Texas.  Temperatures dipped into the lower 30’s on Monday and Tuesday but thankfully returned to more seasonable temperatures during the following days.  Our weekend ended in the mid 80’s with a beautiful breeze.

We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with Karen J’s house.  Loretta E., Merv, Milton and Lorna almost finished installing all the flooring and cleaned the flooring that we weren’t replacing.  They also started installing some baseboards and trim.

At Lois’ house Pete and Billy designed and constructed a ramp and railing outside the front door and installed 2 toilets.

Thursday evening, after work, some of the team went to Cajun Joe’s in downtown Newton to try some crawfish.  They all agreed that it tasted pretty good, but it was a lot of work for very little reward.

On Friday, Milton and Lorna and Merv and Loretta E. found a pickleball court in Jasper where they enjoyed playing a few sets.  That evening we all enjoyed playing cards together in the office trailer.

On Saturday, we met up with the New Caney RV group in Woodville, about a little over one hour’s drive for each group.  There we ate a nice lunch at Wild Bill’s Grill as we enjoyed sharing stories about our respective projects and getting to know each other.

Finally on Sunday we traveled to Merryville, Louisiana for church.  It was only 15 minutes down the road. We attended the service at The River Church and had lunch at Stu’s Grill not far from the church.  Sunday afternoon we all enjoyed ice cream at Dairy Queen.  It was a busy weekend, but lots of fun and rejuvenating for the following work week.
