New Caney, TX (RV) – Mar. 22-28, 2026
This was our final week at the project. On Monday, we celebrated the dedication of Missy H’s new home with songs, prayers, and food. Her niece Jessica paid tribute to how hospitable Missy was with her home space, having opened her home to many family members over the years. Jessica was confident the home would continue to be a haven for those in need.
The dedication was attended by several of Missy’s relatives and neighbors who shared in her joy. Other special guests included Kathleen Kouns from the Salvation Army, Godfrey Hubert and Marcus Carlson with HOPE Disaster Long Term Recovery, Matt Troyer-Miller- Regional Operations Coordinator with MDS for Region 2, and David Zarate, MDS Texas Unit Chair. RV Volunteers presented Missy with gifts on behalf of MDS: Barb R presented a cutting board with a fresh loaf of bread; Linda S presented a quilted wall hanging that her friend had made; and Gloria Y presented Missy with a Bible signed by all of the New Caney RV team. Missy’s daughter baked fancy goodies to share. The dedication was a beautiful expression of the many groups that worked together to make this new home happen.
With the dedication complete, work on the water and electrical hookups and touch up painting was finalized, and the whole house given a good clean to make it move-in ready by Thursday. Touch up work was also completed on Carlos G’s home. This weekend, RV volunteers will start pulling out of their campsites to begin their journey home.
Our hearts are full of gratitude to God for the privilege of serving these new homeowners, for His goodness, health and strength, and new friendships made with the homeowners and fellow RV volunteers.
