MDS Jennings was a beehive of activity Sunday evening July 24th.  A single white bus arrived with 17 volunteers ready to tackle the many opportunities provided by MDS.  The majority of the volunteers were from the Shiloh Mennonite youth group located in Abbeville, S.C.  Four married couples were also a part of the volunteer group.

This week we were able bring several projects to conclusion.  These projects including painting, drywall, insulating the new build, kitchen install and floor repairs.  Our volunteers tackled each assignment with energy and a positive attitude.  Don Mintmier closed out at least four (4) job cards (projects) which was a major accomplishment for the volunteers.

Each week a resident is invited to speak to the volunteer group after dinner about their experiences with the storm.  The resident provided a detailed narrative of how he experienced the ravages of the storm.  His home suffered extensive roof damage.  MDS will be working on his house next week.

Next week (8/1) the focus will be roof repairs.  Roof shingles and other supplies were delivered to the four (4) sites.

Our next group will be from Lancaster, PA

For the Jennings team,

Don, Ryan, LeRoy, Leo, Jerry, Dianne, Marie & Nelson
