Elk, WA – Oct 21-27, 2025
This week marked the third week of work in Elk, Washington, where 10 weekly volunteers from the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area joined one year-long and nine long-term volunteers. Together, the team made steady progress—completing the cement work on two foundations and pouring the footings for a third site.
By Friday, there was a shared sense of excitement as volunteers finally moved from concrete to wood, beginning framing work after several weeks focused on foundations. While many weren’t initially eager about concrete work, several shared by week’s end that they’d learned to enjoy the process—and took pride in knowing they helped lay a solid foundation for what’s to come.
Looking ahead, the team hopes to pour the final concrete (weather permitting) and continue framing on the other two homes.
