Yearlong volunteers Maik Hinz from Germany and Mary Joyce Wise from NY, left at the end of the week, as well as cooks Rose Kilmer and Sarah Zimmerman from MO, and EMU student Ruach Deng from South Sudan.  Katie & Jonathon Snyder from IN, will continue to serve next week, along with Crew Lead Ed Basinger, Project Director Abe Wiebe and Office Manager Emily Goertz.  The weekly volunteers were a SYP group of 14 from PA, bringing the total of volunteers this week to 24.

The Williams house was completed midweek, with final work including kitchen/bathroom plumbing, counter installation, caulking and painting. Garney house projects included new siding and exterior wall repair and installation of a new window and door; interior repair and finish work; and starting installation of a new shower.  Work at the Felbe house included ongoing flooring and painting.  Work on two new houses was started this week: At Kendra Essman’s home, an existing deck was partially demolished, and work began on a new deck and ramp, along with cleanup and repair of skirting.  On Thursday ceiling drywall replacement began at Larry Slavin’s home.

Highlights of the week include finishing one home and starting work on two more.  Spirited volleyball and cornhole games were played several evenings when the weather allowed.

Next week we hope to finish work on the Essman and Falbe homes and start work on a couple more.

Joining us this weekend are incoming cooks Gabby and Beth Bomberger from PA and Crew Leader William Metschulat from PA.  Best wishes to Maik and Mary Joyce as they leave for their next assignment in Florida.

On behalf of the Conroe, TX team, Emily Goertz
