Conroe, TX – Mar. 1- 7, 2026
The incoming long-term leadership group was joined last week by a group of 15 energetic young people from New York and one Texan to start off our last month of work here in Conroe.
As we make a marathon push to finish up our work here, the crew reported that they did a lot of mudding and sanding and mudding and sanding each day at the Garcia house. The crew at the Molina house was able to install flooring, trim work, and the kitchen countertop as well as painting. The repair job at the Cooke house included drywall finishing, taping, and painting. The completion of the Renk and Hayes houses was handed off to the New Caney RV team.
In addition to reports each evening about the work that had been done that day, hilarious ‘farm animal reports’ were given about the pot-bellied pigs, goats, and sheep that live next door to one of the work sites. Our office manager taught several of the weekly volunteers how to play pickleball, and from then on, evenings were filled with lively games of pickleball in addition to volleyball and cornhole.
On Wednesday evening, we were blessed to have seven members of one of our clients’ families, the Molinas, join us for supper, followed by soccer playing with the kids while the adults visited. Then we were doubly blessed when they graciously invited us to their home for street tacos on Thursday evening. It was another evening of rich fellowship and soccer playing.
