Jennings, LA – Oct 4-15, 2021
Jennings, LA has been reopened as of 4 Oct 2021. New volunteers are the Project Director Vern Geissinger and his wife Joyce Geissinger the head cook. Phi Helmuth Project Coordinator was on hand to help coordinate and introduce the new clients that we are serving for their needs.
Philip Gehret long term volunteer is our crew leader our only short-term volunteer was Richard Banal from PA. Gary Zehr is the Office manager and Douglas Goetzen will round out crew leaders.
The start-up included ensuring the lodging, kitchen, shower trailer, and vehicles were ready for use. Last week and part of this week volunteers spent time building a new men and women bathroom in the gymnasium where the short-term volunteers are lodging. Thursday and Friday Philip and Richard started working on client homes that were damaged during the last hurricane. Charles had Facia replaced on his house and porch. Rosa had work completed on her roof and two storm doors repaired.
On Wednesday Ti Ti a local lady from the Jennings Church of Crist blessed us with a Cajun supper. What a treat. And as always, we receive wonderful meals form Joyce our head cook.
We have been short manned with short term volunteers so far but are expecting larger groups starting the first of November.
The weather has been agreeable and we thank God for the wonderful volunteers we have received to serve our Lord so far.
