Wynne, AR – March 16-22, 2025
A group of 17 from Heritage High School, Hagerstown MD, joined us this week. Brent and Mary Horst along with David and Jeannette Dan provided excellent leadership for the group.
Because our four houses have been mostly completed, Project Director Fred Hershey signed job cards for four small repair jobs to provide meaningful work for them. Work included staining some porch railings, building a deck, tearing down part of a house damaged by the storm and rebuilding an addition. The concrete floor on a home was cleaned and sealed. In the same home several appliances were installed and sod laid.
On Thursday night the local hospital provided a meal for us. The kitchen is not normally open for evening meals, but the cooks came in and prepared a delicious meal for us that evening. Garrett, the hospital CEO and Joy, the community outreach director, told us how the hospital responded to the tornado.
Crist Boss came on Monday to evaluate our fleet and make decisions about which vehicles and trailers go where. Becky Gochnauer was here on Wednesday for an administrative visit.
Next week is our last week here. A group of high school students from Hillcrest Academy will join us.
