Wynne, AR – Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2025

We had another great week on the sites in Wynne, Arkansas. Our groups of volunteers were thirteen young people including two couples from Pennsylvania. Two men from Southern Ontario Canada and a young man from Ohio.  Karla Friesen from the MDS Office and a fellow from her church in Virgina were at the site for a few days for a site visit and to volunteer.

We were able to finish up the skirting on Olia’s house, which completed this job.

On Pat’s house, the plumbers, electrician and the HVAC rough ins were completed. The inspection was completed without any deficiencies. On Thursday we had a very wet day and were able to get 90% of the insulation in and around 40% of the ceiling drywall installed. The siding and trim are nearly completed.

On Miss Lawanda’s house we got the interior walls completed, we also got the exterior doors installed. The rough in electric and HVAC are completed and the rough in plumbing is nearly completed. The trim is on and the siding has been started.

On Miss Grandester’s house we got all of the exterior walls set, the trusses up, the roof sheeted and the paper on. On the rainy Thursday we were able to get all of the soffit, trim and siding painted for her house as well.

We had a driveway rocked at Miss Mallory’s house so we could have the Roofing and Framing materials delivered on Friday.

Grandester Johnson-EL joined us for dinner on Wednesday evening and shared about her family and her experience of the tornado.

On Wednesday noon Doreen and I attended the Local Rotary meeting and I shared about MDS and on Thursday Fred Hershey and I attended the local LTR (Long Term Recovery) meeting and shared about the project progress and MDS.

Also on Wednesday we welcomed Fred and Mildred Hershey and Don and Em Yoder who will be doing long term leadership for the next two months.
