This week marked the conclusion of our Summer Youth Program in Spencer, Iowa. We were blessed to have 17 weekly volunteers from Pennsylvania serving alongside us, and we also welcomed a new assistant cook from New York. As the week ended, we said goodbye to three dedicated crew leaders and our head cook, whose service and leadership have been deeply appreciated.

It was a productive and rewarding week on the job sites. Volunteers completed a wide range of tasks including mudding, painting, trimming, caulking, sanding, installing doors, vanities, cupboards, toilets, sheetrock, flooring, and hardware. Teams also installed drop ceilings, connected sewer and supply lines, built a sink table, and moved fill dirt to improve drainage around a home. Through their hard work and commitment, four projects were completed this week, providing families with safe and comfortable homes while bringing a sense of hope and progress to the community.

Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome a new head cook, a crew leader, a long-term volunteer, and an office manager trainee. Work will continue on five open projects, with volunteers carrying forward many of the same construction and finishing tasks that have made this season so successful. We are grateful for another week of service, teamwork, and meaningful accomplishments.
