Point Au Chien, LA – Feb. 22-28, 2026

Twelve volunteers, including eight young men and four young gals, joined the leadership team in Pointe-Aux-Chenes, Louisiana, to work a combined 648 hours finishing up outside work at the sites. With the national average volunteer pay rate of $34.79, this group donated $22,543.92 worth of work to this community.

They earned every ‘penny.’  One house started with floor joists, and floor decking, walls, porch, trusses, sheeting and ice & shield were completed.  With some concrete work also done, the house is ready for shingles and siding next week.  At the same time, another house was sheeted, ice & water shielded, shingled, sided and painted.  Yet besides, bases for 3 cisterns and air conditioner brackets were completed at 3 of the 4 sites.  Was this group tired at week’s end?

We think they should have been, but their enthusiasm and energy blessed us right up until they climbed into their van for the trip home. Before they left, a local boat captain offered a free boat tour of the area.  When they offered him some money toward gas, he told them that he preferred they not deny his chance at blessing them. We are once again reminded of how much God loves to bless His people with unexpected gifts.  He sure has been doing that in Pointe-Aux-Chenes!
