Since we are not bringing in new weekly volunteers this month, it was great to have the one weekly volunteer from California stay to work with our two long term crew leaders.

Things were rearranged in the Unit #1 garage to make space for the stove, refrigerator, washer & dryer for both Harrell and Rubiolo that were delivered to us on Monday.  Our team of three, fine-tuned the framing at Cheryle Harrell’s house; framed in both porches as well as completed the finishing touches needed on the concrete.  Towards the end of the week, the inspector came and signed off the nail and sheer inspection.

Highlight of the week was waking up to the sound of rain on the roof!  Even though it didn’t last long, it helped cool things down which was greatly appreciated after so many hot, hot days.

Next week the team plans to install windows in both the Rubiolo and Harrell houses and patiently await the arrival of the doors.

We continue to listen to the home owners share their stories of their journey through this difficult time and are touched by the losses the whole community is faced with, losses of “the normal things that the town had before the fire”, as the clerk at the hardware store said.
