Flying in from Alberta, Canada this week was our Construction Supervisor, Henry Schellenberg; Crew Leader, Duane Cookson from Winchester, VA; Project Director and Office Manager, Don and Rachel Horst from Newton, KS.  Our Head Cook, Marilyn Martin and her husband Doug drove in from Henderson, NV and our Assistant Cook and Crew Leader, Diane Mosier and Tom Mosier drove up from Show Low, AZ.  Our weekly volunteers came from California, Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska bringing our total volunteers this week to 14.

After completion of the drywall screw inspection, volunteers spent the week taping and mudding at Laura Hanley’s house.  On Friday the insulation was blown into the attic.  Since it is a small house, another team worked on splitting logs for Chrastine Johnson, using a log splitter.  This was a dirty job but the team went at it full heartedly!  At Doug Wylie’s house, backing for the kitchen cabinets was put in place.  Several items on the final punch list at the Rubiolo and Harrell homes were taken care of.

Connecting with Chrastine’s need for help when attending Sunday morning worship got our week off to a great start.   Not only was she praying for help, we were praying for direction on where several of our volunteers would work this week, so it was a perfect match.  Opportunity for weekly volunteer Esther to connect with both Teri and Cheryle was very meaningful as well.

Plans for the upcoming week are to get the final, final loose ends completed at Rubiolo and Harrell homes so they can receive their final inspections.  Teri is so ready for this to happen.  We will do all we can to fulfill this task.  Each day is one day closer to getting more folks home.

Submitted by Rachel Horst for the Paradise team.
