This week began MDS’ Summer Youth Program. We welcomed a wonderful youth group and their leaders from two Mennonite churches in Archbold, Ohio to our project in Paradise. They arrived eager to participate and were up bright and early Monday morning ready to get to work.

The first two days a crew returned to Jewell Road and installed door trim, hung interior doors, finished installing “barn doors” and installed kitchen cabinet knobs.

At the Newland Road house, they first mudded and sanded the drywall and then painted the ceilings and walls. The flooring was also installed and is now completed finished. They are currently working on trim and are waiting to install the kitchen cabinets.

Much progress was made on the Honey Run house. Bathroom tile was grouted, concrete floor was prepped for laminate flooring and the flooring partially installed. Kitchen cabinets were also installed. Both primer and finish coats of paint have been applied.

One highlight of the week included attending the weekly “Party In The Park” where we made some valuable connections and enjoyed being outside listening to music on a pleasant summer night.

The week culminated with another highlight of stopping at a lookout and taking our group photo there, as well as a quick stop at Bille Park overlooking the canyon to the west.

Thank you for your interest in this project.

Beverly Delp, Office Manager, on behalf of the whole Paradise team
