Newton, TX (RV) – Feb. 8 – 14, 2026

We had beautiful weather here in Newton for our new volunteers to enjoy as they began their first week of work.  Our new volunteers are Loretta and Peter from Northern New York, Cindy and Steve from North Carolina, Karen and Norman from Pennsylvania, and Billy and Sandi from Indiana. Bonnie and Todd from Idaho and Margaret and Clark from Oregon are continuing on this month after serving in January.

In January the crew of 6 worked on repairs in Tawana and Perry’s home.  This month we were able to sign-on a second home belonging to Karen J. This week, Bonnie and Todd and Margaret and Clark continued working in Wilkes’ home and the rest of the crew started in Karen J’s home.

The Wilkes’ home is coming along nicely.  Todd repaired a toilet leak, installed the bathroom sink, and he and Bonnie installed the wiring for the air conditioner unit and installed the shower.  Bonnie, Clark and Margaret finished dry wall prep and began painting the living room walls and ceiling and Bonnie and Billy also worked on painting trim.

In Karen J’s house the floor joists were already in place.  Cindy and Karen cut shim strips for floor joists, and Norm, Steve and Pete installed blocking for the floor joists.  They all continued with cutting and installing subfloor in the living room, hallway and bedroom #3 during the rest of the week.

On Saturday, we all enjoyed a fun Valentine’s Day lunch at Pizza Hut in Jasper.  On Sunday, we attended the First Baptist Church in Newton.  At the church, we enjoyed a delicious pancake breakfast before the service, and a presentation from an International Mission Board Missionary serving in Delhi, India.  What an amazing presentation and an amazing worship service!
