We enjoyed another beautiful weather week here in southeast Texas!  Our volunteers continued to make great progress on the repairs of both the Wilkes home and Karen J’s home.

At Wilkes’ home, Billy continued to work on building a ramp with the help of Todd, Bonnie and Pete.  Todd and Bonnie also worked on installing flooring and bathroom trim, and Margaret and Clark painted and installed the window trim.  On Tuesday, Clark and Pete traveled to Conroe, 2 ½ hours away, to pick up cabinets and Pete and Todd installed them on Wednesday. They installed the countertops and sink with the help of Bonnie on Thursday.

At Karen J’s house, Steve, Cindy and Karen F worked on wall repair and installing drywall.    Most of the drywall needed to be glued onto paneling, so they built supports to keep the drywall in place until they were sure it adhered.   Norm was busy with plumbing repairs during most of the week.

Of course, our week is never all work and no play.  On Friday we enjoyed a potluck dinner as we celebrated Bonnie’s birthday.  On Saturday morning, the ladies went shopping at a nearby home décor store. After purchasing take-out at Dairy Queen, we enjoyed a relaxing lunch in Newton Park.  A very fun game night was held on Saturday night.

On Sunday we attended United Methodist Church in the Pines where we enjoyed a “Soup Cook-off” after the service.  The soups were delicious as was the fellowship!
