This past week work continued on Miss Sonia’s home in Cleveland, Texas for Hope Disaster Recovery.   Tasks included completion of the bathroom (painting and remounting a mirror). In the kitchen the walls were mudded, sanded and painted, new linoleum laid, and the installation of cupboards almost completed. This week, new countertops go in, the sink and plumbing will be re-installed, and curtains hung.

Our plumbing team started work on their fifth and final home at the end of the week. They should complete this work on Monday or Tuesday.  Another part of our team is drywalling one of the “new builds”, where the whole team hopes to join them by the end of this week or early next week.

This past weekend we said good-bye to Blaine and Lenka Cizkova-Monson, and welcomed 5 new volunteers. Among our February arrivals, we were happy to welcome Jean Anderson back after month of medical rest.

We appreciated a climb in temperatures towards the end of the week. A beautiful sunny Friday could not be wasted, and some took advantage of the many paved trails in nearby Houston with biking and walking. We also planned an outdoor picnic lunch with the whole team on Sunday at a delicious local BBQ stand (see attached picture) following a church service.
