Monte Lake, B.C. – Sept. 25 – Oct. 1, 2022

This week on the Monte Lake project, the Eager’s home main floor was completed and the deck door installed. The wood cook stove piping was installed so the attic space can then be insulated. In the basement, the drywall is installed, taping and mudding is underway. On the exterior we continue to install the “Hardy Board” siding.

On the Maisonneuve home the trim is painted, most of the door hardware is on. Heating and venting installation is expected Oct. 4, and the attic has been insulated. We celebrated the new home with Rob and Michelle on Thursday afternoon Sept 29.

The Hanton home met the final inspection on Thursday just as the MDS volunteers arrived for the Home Dedication celebration.

On the Peden home the hardy board is completed. The floor is prepped and ready for the underlay and vinyl plank flooring installation. The cabinets have been installed.

Our Project Director, Roman Heuft, and the crew leaders, Ray Funk, Dale Wuschke, Henry Wiens and Royce Boskers, have been great leaders this week. Darlene Funk, Shirley Falk and Nancy Harder with Zion were the cleaning crew cleaning the homes for the Home Dedication celebrations.

Thursday was the exciting day as we the celebrated two home dedications for Hal and Linda and Rob and Michelle. All who attended were blessed by the realization of the goodness of God to these homeowners, the community and the MDS volunteers.

Thank you to our short-term volunteers: Dale Wuschke, Royce & Peitie Boskers, Shirley Falk, Ernie Falk, Nancy, Bradne & Zion Harder, Guidi Ginter, Cory Stoesz, Jimena Stoesz, Annie Dyck, Susie Dyck, Gord Shae, Ken Wellington, as well as to those who came as daily volunteers for your part in getting these homes closer to completion.

This weekend we say welcome to Harold Friesen as Project Director taking over from Roman, and Willy Plett as Office Manager taking over for Priscilla Epp who is moving to the cooking position.
