We had a very interesting week here in Grand Isle, LA.  Tuesday was Valentines Day and we celebrated with a pizza party supper in the office trailer followed by the “Not so Newlywed” Game.  We got to know each other better and had lots of chuckles over our answers.  Of course we had to have Valentine chocolate cupcakes and lots of chocolate candy for dessert.

Progress was made on Miss Hayle’s house.  Siding was completed this week!  The  bathroom is primed and ready for finish paint.  The ladies painted the deck which was a big improvement in the overall looks of the house.  Miss Hayle is very happy with the results.

We had a visit from John Longhurst and Caleb Gingerich.  They both work in the MDS communications department.  They interviewed us and took lots of pictures.  We told about experiences being RVers on a MDS project.  Hopefully we can get more participation in the RV program.

After the men finished the siding on Miss Hayle’s house they moved the tool trailer to our next job site which is Miss Joan’s house.  She lives in one of the oldest homes on Grand Isle and had hurricane damage on one outside wall.  We were told that the pirate Jean Lafitte stayed here.  How interesting!

We had another fun cultural experience on Sunday afternoon when we attended our first Mardi Gras parade.  Beads, beads, beads and more beads thrown all over the place!!!   On the way home someone remarked “that was my first and last Mardi Gras parade.”
