Eastern KY – Oct. 2-8, 2022

Over the weekend the MDS project moved from Knott to Breathitt County.  We thank Camp Nathanael for their hospitality while we were there!  And now Bethel Mennonite Camp has given us a warm welcome here.

This week we had 1 volunteer from Lancaster, PA and 2 from Kalona, IA along with our new Long-Term staff who are from Iowa (1) , Nebraska (2) and Virginia (1).  The MDS crew leader and Project Director also worked on homes.  2 of the Iowa volunteers cooked and fed us well!

We started work on 2 homes nearby to help us ease into the work and community.  Volunteers worked in one home doing electrical and plumbing work.  In the other home volunteers tore out floor boards, rebuilt floor joists, re-wired most of the home, installed some plumbing, and installed insulation.   It was satisfying to see the huge improvement of the house with only 1 week of work!
