It was a melancholy week as we finished two projects and began closing down the camp.  There have been some unique challenges over the past 6 weeks including a hurricane, flooding, non-potable water, sporadic septic pumping, shortage of jobs, rain almost every day, and a team with 3 Steves and 2 Cindys.  But what a team!!!  They never lost focus and gave 100%.
Steve and Cindy Detwiler finished their time of service, and we gained Annette from Ohio.  Leonard and Twila worked hard to get rough in plumbing installed in a new house.  Steve Haskin and Steve Sanderson completed the work at Harry’s house by reroofing the front porch.  Annette installed a window there.  Cindy Sanderson and Pam Haskin painted the repaired ceiling and upper walls at Donna’s house.
With a shortage of RV volunteers for August and September, it was decided to close down.  The time spent was rewarding, as we were able to make a difference in the lives of those we served.
Highlight:  Harry is an elderly man whose dear wife had a massive stroke and is in a nursing home.  He loved helping the men and being actively a part of the work.  Pam baked something special every weekend, all month, for the two Steves to bring to Harry on Monday.  He was so overjoyed, and brought some to his wife each time.
