Selma, AL – April 13-19, 2025
This week we were blessed with a group (10) of energetic young girls from Eastern Lancaster County and 1 young lady from New York. A lot of work was accomplished this week as the weather cooperated with mild sunny or mostly sunny days.
With the Reynolds house final sanding of the drywall was done and painting was started. Also, more work was done on the wheelchair ramp.
At the Moore house the volunteers were working on flooring, painting, window casing/trim work, and installing baseboard.
Another job was at the Alexander house where flashing and soffit work was done. This job was closed at the end of the week.
Water heater covers were put on at the Parker house.
Adam and Jack worked on the ramp and ADA compliant door at the Sabra Women’s Shelter.
A new job was started at the Mobley house. This is a roofing job that has its challenges, but our volunteers have the skills to tackle it.
Because of Passion week and the numerous events surrounding it we were unable to schedule any local person to share their story with the group. One of the many highlights of the week was seeing the weekly volunteers interact with the long-term volunteers in the evening as multiple types of games broke out.
Next week it anticipated that work on the Moore and Reynolds houses will bring them closer to completion. These are by far the two biggest jobs being worked on now. Hopefully, the Parker, Mobley, and Sabra Women’s Shelter can be completed next week.
Jack Tillotson completed his volunteer time as crew leader this week. We welcomed Jim Herr on Saturday. Jim will serve as crew leader for 2 weeks.
Respectfully submitted by Roland Stutzman for Abe, Norma, Jack, Tina, Linda, Adam, Jonathon, Katie, Lucinda, Maik, and Mary Joyce.
