We welcomed a group of ten from Virginia on Sunday afternoon, six women and four men.  We were thankful for warmer temperatures this weekend with sunny skies and less wind!

Monday was beautiful and sunny with a temperature of 40 degrees, which is our highest so far.  It was a great day to work on the new build!  Scaffolding was set up, porch posts worked on and Simpson brackets installed.   All the trusses were put up, along with starting the sheeting.  The volunteers accomplished so much!  At Ms. Denise’s, several volunteers cleaned up the site by picking up all the trash and hauling it to the landfill.  Tuesday and Wednesday volunteers battled the cold again.   By Wednesday, the roof was completed and the porch was framed and roofed.

On Wednesday evening, Kim joined us for our evening meal.   Kim is with the Long Term Recovery

Group here in Crisfield.  She shared some of the background of the hurricane and flooding that has happened here and what has been accomplished since.

Volunteers put ice guard on the roof on Thursday and also wrapped the house with Tyvek.  The windows were installed on Thursday too and the doors installed on Friday,  along with some of the interior walls.

What a change on the new build since last week!  The volunteers worked so hard throughout the cold days and didn’t complain!  We enjoyed a lot of laughter and stories in the evenings as we fellowshipped together!

On Saturday we said goodbye to Jeff and Jane, as they have completed their two weeks as crew leader and assistant cook.  We were sad to see them go – we enjoyed having them serve here in Crisfield with us all, and benefitted from their leadership and skills.

Long term team – Adam Blough, Jeff & Jane Holly, Ron & Char Roth and Mike & Linda Stuckey
