Black Mountain, NC – Oct. 20-24, 2025 (NC Bridges)

Summey Bridge, Kaufmann Bridge, Beg Bridge – Black Mountain, NC

We had a total of 11 volunteers during this week 10/20-10/24, 11 Weekly, 2 Long Term, and 2 Leadership volunteers, to work on the Sumey, Kaufmann, and Beg Bridges in Black Mountain. They came from PA, NY, VA, WV, CA, SC and MT.

The volunteers worked on 3 bridges during this past week. Progress was as follows:

Summey:  On Monday they put the beams on. Tuesday was welding on bridge and started dead end boards. Wednesday started rails on bridge, poured concrete wall entrance and exit, and did stonework on sides. Thursday built forms and put on deck. Friday they worked on decking.

Kaufmann: Monday poured concrete. Tuesday put together forms and poured concrete on stem walls. Thursday moved dirt and stone, and set I-beams. Friday they welded.

Beg: Wednesday put in footer, poured concrete, put in pipes, and welded. Thursday set forms and poured concrete. Friday took down forms, did excavating, and moved soil.
