This was an unusual week here in Barre.  The entire state of Vermont was declared a disaster area by President Biden.  Hurricane Debby threatened residents with more flooding and although it rained hard and long, no major new flooding was reported.   Anxiety remains high in this part of the state.

Another unusual circumstance was that we had more crew leaders (3) than weekly volunteers (2)!  We adapted and formed one crew that continued our work in Barre.  The nearby RV project in Plainfield began shutting down and by the end of the week, all the volunteers had departed and the vehicles and trailers were moved to our location until they can be transported back to Lititz.

The last unusual occurrence was constructing a floor under the old Plainfield Opera House stage so that the Emergency Operations Center that is located there could store cots and other supplies in that space.

Not an easy place to work since the space is about 4 feet high.  Kudos to the volunteers who spent the day under that stage!

This week we said goodbye to our head cook, Gerry and hello to our new head cook, Jim.

Reporting from all of us at Barre, office manager Kent.
