Amory, MS – March 16-22, 2025
We welcomed 11 men this week who brought lots of energy and kept the cooks busy! Several jobs were completed.
Mr. George’s house is competed with 3 new ceilings, and he is very happy to have his living space back again. His sister, Jennifer, who lives next door is very thankful for the work of MDS improving George’s home.
We are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel at Ms. Gracie’s. Painting is complete, doors and trim are almost done, and bathroom fixtures are in. We love the purple paint chosen by Gabby for her bedroom. The kitchen will be the main project next week.
Mr. Ronnie’s house has received significant repairs to a back room including rebuilding the floor and drywall patching, painting and trim work. Other rooms received paint and trim and ceiling repair. His grandma was amazed at the improvements.
The guys had fun using a jackhammer at Mr. Glen’s. A crooked foundation was removed and rebuilt with cement blocks. We were glad for a volunteer that had masonry experience.
Work at other sites has included building a roof over a ramp, jacking and leveling two houses that had shifted in the storm, and other repairs.
From Amory: Joetta Schlabach, Cindy and Dan Steiner, Joe and Naomi Byler, Leo and Mim Martin, Mary Joyce Wise. Volunteers: Dwight, Derek, Jared, Roy, Glen, Ethan, Jason, Jonathan, Marlin, LaRay, and Lester.
