Amory, MS – Mar. 9-15, 2025
This week, our group of 10 men and 3 women were organized by a leader that gets a group together every year to serve with MDS. We were thankful for their familiarity with our routine.
Mr. George is anxious for his house to be completed. The crew continues work tearing down ceilings and insulation – a very dirty job requiring full body coveralls, masks and goggles. The work of installing new insulation and drywall continues.
At Ms. Gracie’s, a new HVAC system was installed and electrical is almost completed. Much work was done hanging and mudding drywall and beginning to paint.
Work at other sites has included drywalling of walls and ceilings, plumbing repairs, flooring, painting and trim work. Volunteers with professional drywalling experience have been a blessing!
We were honored to have Ms. Gracie, her daughter LaDonna, and grand-daughter Gabby join us for our Wednesday evening meal. They shared their experience when the tornado came through and how people cared for each other during that time. They had to get an apartment in Tupelo, and Gabby shared about the difficulty of having to change schools. Much gratitude was expressed for the work of MDS and the kindness of the volunteers.
