Amory, MS – Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2025
A group of 14 energetic young men and ladies joined us from Pennsylvania for week three and got to enjoy beautiful springtime weather as well as make good progress again on our jobsites. We reluctantly said good-bye to our assistant cook on Saturday, as well as to one of our crew leaders.
Mr. Steve’s house was finished at the end of last week, and so this week we signed off on that one. We finished a few last small details at Ms. Kalai’s house and signed that one off as well. At Ms. JoAnn’s we did a small repair on the wall of her house where a branch had come through and that was a sign on and sign off in just two days. And we signed up Ms. Felicia, went in and put on a storm door for her and signed off again in just a matter of hours.
Ms. Muriel was a new sign on at the end of last week and this week a new steel roof got put on her house. Inside there was lots of drywall repair on the ceilings and of course painting. There was some electrical work done as well as cleanup of debris. Ms. Muriel got a video tour of the work and was very pleased with the work done. Still a few things to take care of next week.
Ms. Pam’s house looks really nice from the outside by now. All the gable ends, and the porch got new siding, soffit and fascia, and new posts on the front porch. Once all that was done the crew moved indoors to work painting trim and trimming out the windows and doors. That will continue into next week along with a few other smaller finishing touches.
At Mr. Kevin’s house we started the week by tearing off old soffit, and replacing it with new, fixed and painted some siding, and at the end of the week there was a good sized crew up on the roof getting a new steel roof on before the rain came.
Building a platform for the air conditioner and installing it was one of the jobs at Ms. Marinell’s house this week. She also got a new heater installed and work was done on her doors so that they would latch properly. We are nearing the end of that job as well.
And back at Ms. Ruby’s we started building her some proper stairs and a ramp so that her husband can more easily move in and out of the house. Work will continue on that next week.
Evenings were filled with volleyball, chess and Dutch Blitz and QWIRKLE. Accordion music and singing filled the air as well and the week passed too quickly, but much was accomplished once again and our clients are getting their homes back to the way they were.
