Amory, MS – Feb. 23-Mar. 1, 2025

We welcomed a great group of men and women from PA this week.  The weather each day got warmer and warmer, and it was sunny all week long, so that led us to working mostly on outside jobs.

At Ms. Fanta’s, flooring was put down in her kitchen and hallway and a bathroom door installed.

At Ms. Rock Ann’s, the floors continue to be torn up and new joists and flooring put down, as well as finishing up in her bathroom.  Ms. Rock Ann is so very grateful for all the help we have given her and is thanking and praising God.  Somehow, her place is where the volunteers gather together for their lunch break.  Work was finished by Friday and Ms. Rock Ann and the volunteers said sentimental goodbyes to each other.

At Ms. Nickie’s, more drywall was sanded and the ceiling was finished.

At Mr. Ronnie’s, 2 ceilings were sanded and painted and crown molding installed.  The crew leader said the the sanding and finishing was the best he’s ever seen.

At Ms. Shiree’s, some plumbing issues were fixed.

At Mr. George’s, the ceiling in the front room was pulled down and new insulation and drywall were put in.

At Ms. Gracie’s much of the tornado damaged items were hauled out of the house and walls, ceiling, and floors were ripped out.  A new roof was put on. This is going to be more of a major repair and we’re looking forward to seeing the diamond that it turns into.

At Ms. Debbie’s, windows were sealed, painting was done, trim and caulking were done and it was a one-day job.

At Ms. Janice’s house the back corner of her roof was repaired and fascia put back on and painted.

We signed on 6 new job cards and signed off on 2 jobs.

We all made new friendships (and some rekindled former acquaintances) among the volunteers and the homeowners.  The current long-term volunteers are leaving to go back to their regularly scheduled lives (except Hank!), and the new team of long-termers are transitioning into their roles through the end of March.
