North Carolina Bridges – Mar. 8-14, 2026
The leadership group was transitioning this week with a new cook, project director and office manager coming in. There was a little excitement as flights were delayed and connections missed, so the crew had to cook their own breakfast and went out of dinner on Monday! Oh well, the weather can be unpredictable. There was also some excitement around the garbage bins as we had a hungry visitor! Our 4-legged friend (Mr. Bear) helped himself to some treats!
We had a group of 8 men who were from Pennsylvania to continue with the Kerber bridge, which had been started last week. Along with the crew leader and project director the Kerber bridge was completed by Friday noon. Next week the approach will be poured with concrete to finish that project. As completion was near, the forms and tooling were being moved to the Allison project. Baked treats kept coming every day at the Kerber bridge!
We again got together with the West Asheville group for a delicious meal and listened to another story of how the disaster was so devastating and how much the bridges have helped! We happened to have a birthday here this week and enjoyed some Bat Cave cake and some Pennsylvania chocolate covered coconut bars! Happy Birthday!
