On Sunday we welcomed nine ladies from upstate NY/OH, and five men from Ontario CANADA.  We also welcomed Ric & Joy  (cooks for the week), and Ken & Suetta (construction supervisor).  Unfortunately, both the cooks and construction supervisor had to leave mid-week due to death/family illness.  Two of the weekly volunteer ladies stepped up to finish out the week as cooks, and one of the LTV crew leaders stepped up to help in the construction supervisor role.  With the Lord’s provision, the work of responding, rebuilding, and restoring was able to continue!

We enjoyed more seasonal weather after the bitter cold of the past two weeks, and work progressed swiftly.  At Ms. Carolyn’s house, the siding is completed and painted, most of the drywall and mudding .is done, and holes were dug for the front porch posts.  Ms. Carolyn joined us for supper one evening and shared her story…our hearts were deeply touched and blessed as we listened.

At Mr. Lindsey’s house we finished installing windows; put on and painted the siding, exterior trim, soffit and fascia.  Insulation was put in and hanging drywall started.

Doors and windows were set, front porch was built, trusses set, sheathing put on, and the roof was shingled at Ms. William’s house, all in one week.  On Friday afternoon, the homeowner, an elderly 83 year old, came to see her house for the first time.  She was overwhelmed with joy and gratefulness to see the progress and anticipate living in her own, new home!

A new volleyball net in the gym was the main evening attraction this week – it provided great fun for all!  We were blessed with another week of rich interactions and joy as we joined together in MDS’s “Kingdom Work”.
