Grand Isle, LA – RV – Jan. 28 – Feb. 3, 2024
On Saturday most of our group toured a retired oil rig in Morgan City LA. It is now privately owned and open for tours. A retired oil rig worker gave us a phenomenal tour, and even though today’s technology is vastly different than that of this particular example, we were able to learn a lot about the industry. Very appropriate, as we look out upon maybe up to eighteen rigs in the Gulf from our campground.
By the end of Week 4, Eddie’s house is looking more and more like a home, and not just a shell. Drywall is ever closer to completion and the plumbing is marching along. By Thursday afternoon, every seam, all the screws, and the corners had their first coat of mud in one bedroom, and progress was made toward the same in the second bedroom.
On Wednesday we welcomed the project director and office manager for February and March, and helped get them oriented to the project. Four of the January crew head home at the end of this work week, to be replaced by three new couples.
I shouldn’t sign off without reporting that the weather this week was picture perfect, with daytime temps in the 60s, light winds and even some sunshine. We continue to be blessed with good health, safety on the job, lots of good sharing combined with laughter, and the blessing of making new friends.
