Wynne, AR – March 23-29, 2025
The last week of work in Wynne found our group of eighteen high school students and their sponsors doing a variety of things. As usual, the last week of a project brought its challenges to provide meaningful work. In this case, the first three days were spent finishing small repair and community service jobs. On Thursday the camp clean-up began.
A group spent significant hours inside painting, installing blinds and lights in the Odell MacCullum Community Center. Outside two broken basketball backboards were replaced.
A second group continued work on a repair project. Outside work included siding and soffit. Inside a bathroom was installed and drywall finished and painted, floor laid, windows trimmed and a vanity installed.
Wednesday morning the group participated in our final home dedication. Mallory Marrow and her two young children were the grateful recipients. This was the fourth and final dedication for this project. About 50 people attended.
Wednesday the group spent the afternoon at Village Creek State Park.
On Thursday the group worked a camp. Outside clean-up was completed, the tool trailer cleaned and packed, kitchen supplies sorted and packed, temporary walls removed, vehicles washed and inspected, bunk rooms and bathrooms cleaned.
At noon the local hospital auxiliary invited us to come to the hospital dining room for ice cream sundaes after lunch. Hospital administrators told their story of preparation for and dealing with the tornado.
Long Term Volunteers Dave and Marian Mininger left for their home in Virginia Thursday afternoon after serving here for a month-Dave as Crew Leader and Marian as Assistant Cook.
We were grateful when our Thursday evening meal was brought in by a local couple since all our kitchen supplies were packed up
Friday morning the group helped pack up the trailer that will be taken to Lititz before heading home.
