We had a total of 13 volunteers during this week 1/19 – 1/23; 8 Weekly, 1 Long Term, 2 Crew Leaders, and 2 Leadership volunteers, to work on the Mauldin Bridge in Weaverville, and the Briar Hollow Bridge in Fletcher. Our volunteers were from Canada, NY, OH, NE, and IA.

The volunteers worked on 2 bridges this week. Progress was as follows:

Mauldin Bridge: On Tuesday volunteers unloaded beams. On Wednesday they set beams, bolted in bracing, welded angles and end caps, started installing decking boards.   On Thursday the volunteers completed decking on bridge and started curbing, poured concrete on end walls.

Briar Hollow (Lemuel Oates) Bridge: On Monday volunteers moved the temporary bridge, dug footings, and set forms for footings and stem walls. On Tuesday they placed concrete in footers and stem walls. On Wednesday they removed wall forms and back filled. On Thursday the volunteers backfilled racks, put beams on and welded.
