This week we welcomed 8 wonderful youth and sponsors from Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, Ohio. They came ready to serve the people in need in Venice.

We also welcomed a three-week volunteer, Kyana, to the project. She was readily included by the youth group from Ohio and fit right in with them.

Three crews were sent out each day to continue with the drywall, mudding, sanding, and painting. All the clients we are working for need lots of drywall repairs. Each night when reports were given, they were all similar in that they had done mudding, sanding, and painting…and then some more mudding, sanding, and painting!

Margaret’s house is moving along to the point of installing kitchen cabinets, adding baseboards and electrical outlets.

Two job cards were signed off this week – Melissa and Daniel. Both clients were extremely grateful for the improvements the MDS volunteers made to their homes.

One evening, Hilda from United Way, invited the crew to Manasota Beach to look for shark’s teeth. She brought her equipment along and with her help many shark’s teeth were found to be taken home as souvenirs.

We said goodbye to one of our crew leaders, Gary Martin, from Alaska, over the weekend and welcomed Duane Cookson back to the project.

The Venice LTV team,

Verne, Janis, Gary, Laverne, Rick, Joy and Bev
