Spartanburg, SC – Mar. 1-7, 2026
What a fun week in Spartanburg! Laura Pribble came to help Emily Ropp in the kitchen and Don Lichti arrived to overlap a few days with the current Project Director. Tim Sweigart stepped up to fill some big shoes as Construction Supervisor and rose to the task like a pro. Like he does every year, Spike Weaver of Ohio brought family and friends to serve this week. This group knew how to work hard and play hard, and much was accomplished in both categories!
Just a few hours were spent adding some finishing touches to Ms Carolyn’s new home. Crew Leader Alta even made some custom shelving for her pantry.
Work at Mr. Lindsey’s house included painting, installing flooring and trim, and hanging doors, shelving and accessories. Concrete work, caulking, and more painting was accomplished. Finally, great effort was focused on cleaning up! Mr. John came by to see the progress and share a bit of his fascinating life story.
This week at Ms William’s included a final coat of paint on the exterior siding. Inside, all walls were mudded, sanded, primed, and painted. Flooring was installed. The exterior block and the porch ceiling were painted. Interior doors were hung and all trim work completed. Even the porch railing was finished. The bathroom vanity was installed and then a good cleaning of the whole house was done.
Fishing proved to be popular with this group (and Crew Leader, Raymond) so Friday afternoon was spent down by the river casting their lines. Well deserved fun after much work!
Over the weekend we said goodbye to Doug Goertzen (PD), Tim, Emily, Laura, and Alta Zimmerman, a Crew Leader since the beginning of the project in January.
