We enjoyed the slowdown of the Unit because of the ice.  It was beautiful to take a walk to the dam and enjoy the quiet and God’s beauty.  On Monday the “crew” {long termers} finished some odd jobs around the church; painting and trim work in the bathrooms around the newly installed showers and also repairing doors in the church.

The two short termers came in on Monday evening. We installed the plate, rim joist, center beam, floor joist and most of the blocking on Ms. Williams home.  Jon and the cooks went over Friday morning to cover the floor joist with plastic to protect it from the snow.

At Ms. Wrights home the volunteers got a nice cold shower while working on her soffit. Hot showers that night were priority. They started on the bathroom doing ceiling and drywall repair where a tree had fallen through.

On Mr. Lindsey’s home we installed the house wrap.  The rafters came in and were set.  Friday, with the cooks help, they were able to put up the roofing underlayment and tar paper, just in time for the snow that came on Saturday. Finishing early on Friday, the leadership team got to clean the vehicles inside and out.

We welcomed our new office manager and crew leader who have also joined in the laughter, pranks and work around here.

With only two short term volunteer’s, Pastor Michael and his two son’s help was appreciated. Even with trying to get work done, there was a try at converting a Baptist Pastor to a Presbyterian!!!

From ice, to only two short termers, to “reading books” about sourdough, tomatoes and salt, to the thought of naming the stray dog, “Dog”; who was trying to make himself at home at the base; it’s been another great week!
