Spartanburg, SC – Feb. 22-28, 2026
Winter returned to Spartanburg this week, but fortunately did not impede progress! Once again, the tasks at hand were perfectly matched by the volunteer’s skills arriving this week from Goshen, IN. We welcomed Emily Ropp as Head Cook, Raymond Shirk and Tim Sweigart as Crew Leaders, and Jan Lehman as incoming Office Manager for March.
Job #1: Ms. Carolyn house is finished!! We had the privilege of ending this week with a House Dedication! She has been living in an 8×8 storage shed (at the edge of her property) and her car for the past 18 months, and has daily watched as her house became a reality over the past two months…what a blessing that she is now sheltered, safe, hope has been restored, and she can enjoy her new home.
Job #2: At Mr. Lindsey’s house the siding/caulking was finished. Inside, drywall finishing was completed, the entire house painted, and kitchen cabinets installed.
Job #3: This week at Ms. William’s house the drywall was hung and two coats of finishing completed. The siding and soffit were finished — the final boards put up by dedicated volunteers working in the rain Friday morning!
Evening fellowship was rich with conversations, puzzles, card games, sewing, and abounding laughter. One weekly volunteer, Dave, stepped up to serve as assistant cook since he was recovering from a recent knee replacement. He received affirmation multiple times each day from his all-male co-volunteers with chants of “Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave…!” What a memorable and fun week!
