This week in Selma, we were joined by 2 weekly volunteers from the Birmingham area, 1 from Mississippi and a daily volunteer, Tuesday and Thursday, also from the Birmingham area.

We rotated some Leadership volunteers… Abe Wiebe took over from Rollie Ulrich as Project Director… Val and Lynn replaced Karin and Helmut in the kitchen. We also welcomed 5 Long Term Volunteers… Norma as well as year-long volunteers Mary Joyce, Adam, Jonathon and Katie joining Lucinda and Maik. All 6 year-long volunteers will be together in Selma till the project closes in mid-May.

The weather in Selma was spring-like with cool mornings and very warm days.

Volunteers continued drywall finishing and sub-floor repair at the Moore home. Next week’s volunteers will continue same in the next room after moving items. We also worked on the redesigned bathroom.

Over at the Reynolds new house, we completed Hardie board siding and wrap-around porch with wheelchair ramp. Contractors finished the wiring, plumbing and HVAC.

For supper Thursday evening, we were joined by Bud Mitchell, local UMCOR Construction Coordinator . Bud shared his testimony and expressed deep gratitude for the work of MDS and much encouragement to the volunteers.
