San Juan, PR – Mar. 15-21, 2026
Weather related flight problems caused our group of five from upstate New York to arrive at midnight on Tuesday instead of Sunday afternoon. Even with the shorter week with a full contingent of volunteers, the house and porch roof were completed at Janet’s except for the ridge cap.
Cleanup in preparation for demolition on Maria’s house began on Wednesday. By Friday trusses were set as well as anchor bolts and hurricane straps. This house is ready for sheathing and steel. A large stone in front of the house has been dubbed “the whale”
A group of six from Ontario, two from Alberta and one from North Carolina will arrive on Sunday with the expectation of completing both projects by the time we close for the season on Friday.
Miss Sanchez Aneses (Michi) made the Techos presentation on Wednesday night after our evening meal. It was a rare treat to hear directly from a long-term recovery case manager.
