The word for this week was rain. We’re not talking once a day, as is typical for Puerto Rico, but it rained all day Sunday through Wednesday. Instead of the chickens crowing and the birds singing each morning as we woke up, we woke to the never-ending tapping of rain on the tin roof. In the kitchen in particular, the sound was deafening! We were so grateful when we woke to the normal sounds of Puerto Rico of birds singing and roosters crowing on Thursday morning.

Fortunately, we had enough inside work to keep us busy. In one house they completed installing hurricane ties, did some wiring and built some of the interior walls. We began putting T1-11 on the interior walls and installed exterior doors. By the time the rain moved away, we were able to frame up the porches.

At another house we began reinforcing beams by sistering all rafters, and installed blockings and hurricane ties.

At the third house, we began installing T1-11, blocking, epoxying threaded rods. When the sun came out, we were able to tear off old roofing metal, and purlins and installed new Galvalume metal roof. We also transported materials to job #4.
