This week 4 new leadership volunteers joined the team.  One couple came from Lancaster, PA – our head cook and a crew leader.  The other couple came from just down the road in Bemidji, MN – our assistant cook and office manager.  Their transition went smoothly.

It was an unusual week in that there was the July 4th US holiday and the July 6th Red Lake nation Independence Day celebration.  The Red Lake celebration included a 3 day Pow Wow which the volunteers were able to attend.

On the work front, we continue to rip off damaged siding and replace it with new along with all the associated work of painting, caulking and replacing windows.  We completed work on 2 houses and opened 3 new jobs.  Amazing what can be accomplished with 1 weekly volunteer, 3 crew leaders and a a lot of rain!  Thus far, since the project began 7 houses have been repaired.

HVAC work on the volunteer center continues but as long as the night time temperatures fall into the 40’s the need for air conditioning isn’t urgent!
