Long term volunteers this week were: serving as our Head Cook, Dorothy Miller from Decatur, IL; Assistant Cook, Janice Sackenheim from Berne, IN; Crew Leaders, Matthew Kreeb from Fisher, IL; Jerry Engel from Christiana, PA and David King, Broadway, VA.  Serving as Project Director and Office Manager were Don and Rachel Horst from Newton, KS.  In addition, we had a delightful mix of weekly volunteers coming from Baltimore, MD; Kutztown and Lancaster, PA; Marion, KS and Denver, CO.  Total volunteer count came to 21.

Monday morning, work on Clark’s house began with the removal of siding, painting new siding and trim, scraping and putting primer on soffit and facia.  By Friday the team had installed house wrap, new windows and completed installing the new siding as well as applying the second coat of paint.  At Graves’ house, volunteers removed old sheeting and installed new insulation, sheeting, house wrap and installed five new windows.  The new siding was painted, and three fourths of the painted siding was installed.

Highlights of the week included seeing bears at the transfer station, and having Commissioner, Tim Sumner as our guest speaker Wednesday evening.  He told us about the Red Lake Pow Wow that would be on Friday evening, so it was nice to take that in, right here in Red Lake.  It was great to have the glass installed in the new front door, allowing more daylight into our building.

Projects next week will include finishing up work on the Clark and Graves homes and beginning work on the Lyons house.

It is always enjoyable to experience how a team, coming from many places, bonds together while carrying out the tasks at hand with willing hands and caring hearts.  To God be the glory.

Rachel Horst, reporting for the team
