Port Charlotte, FL – Dec. 15-21, 2024
This week our volunteers consisted of a group of nine from Michigan, two from Pennsylvania, as well as two from Virginia who were here last week as well.
We finished up six projects this week, giving the hurricane survivors something to look forward to as they spend time with family Christmas. Much time was spent drywalling, mudding, sanding, and painting as well as installing flooring and some windows.
One particularly challenging house was a major clean out. Several young women worked very hard with smiles on their face as they hauled a lot of things out of that house. After hauling five dump trailers full of stuff to the landfill, the homeowner can now move around in her house and it’s safer for her to be in. There is still very major work to be done, but we are hoping that she can find a good solution to her housing needs.
We ended our week with major cleaning of the camp and organizing the tool trailers as well as finishing up a lot of loose ends. It was a great week.
